you know what all of a sudden i’m boiling with rage over dragon age 2 all over again they name alriks plan “the tranquil fucking solution” and expect us to sympathize with templars. “anders is the one who turned it into a war” nah bitch! it was already a fucking war! what the fuck! what the fuck! the dude spends his whole life watching people like him lobotomized and killed knowing he’s just a small slip up away from being next but somehow he’s the monster here! fuck you! fuck the chantry! fuck bioware! you can’t spend years beating a dog and then act surprised when it bites! you can’t just name shit “the tranquil solution” and then make a templar a love interest in the next fucking game!

This might be a little bit off topic but your rage inspired my rage and the line “Anders turned it into a war” stuck with me. Because that only sounds like a bad thing if you choose to completely ignore everything that was happening before the rebellion. The options weren’t “war or no war”, or “war or peace”. It was “war or a lifetime of persecution, slavery, and literally every type of abuse there is including forced lobotomization at the whim of your oppressors”. It wasn’t a war before because the mages couldn’t fight back. That’s literally the only thing that changed. It’s good that Anders “turned it into a war” because what it was before was way worse.
this is why i get 1000% done with people who summarize da2 with “what the fuck anders”. NO what the fuck at you. Thats ALL you saw? seven years with hawke seeing the abuse the mages went through and HE is your issue???
the first quest you get with anders you are forced to kill his long time lover!! who was made tranquil and passed his harrowing. (illegal) and tranquil mages walking around the gallows talking about how they were enslaved to ser alrik, not to mention the torture devices at the gallows. quest after quest where the game shows how the templars are out of control and abusing their power like ?????
this has been going on a thousand years but people dont care!! and this is why i celebrate what anders did because a clear messaged NEEDED to be sent!!
